(Travel) NYC or Vegas?

New York City or Las Vegas?

The "Big Apple", "Gotham City", "The City That Never Sleeps" or "Sin City", "The Marriage Capital of the World"?  Which is better?  Both cities are unique in their own way.  The scenery is wonderful, the sites are amazing, the aerial view is just fantastic.  You can definitely find something to do in both cities.  Both cities can be romantic in its own way.  Best of all, both cities are very historic.

To each is own I guess.  In other words, it depends on who you ask.  As for me... NYC all the way.  Vegas is fun and all but it's one of those been there done that and unless I'm a chronic gambler what else can I do in Vegas.  Once, maybe twice a year may seem like a lot but it's cool when you go with friends, get your drink on, play a couple of the tables, site see, etc.  You also have to deal with people that don't know how to drink, the smell of smoke, etc.  All tolerable things to have to deal with but why do I want to spend money on that stuff.

Here's a comment I heard once and I think it makes a lot of sense.  New York City is more for the intellectuals who like to have fun whereas Las Vegas is more for brutes who have a different idea of fun.  Don't need prostitutes, don't care for drinking and acting like a fool in the streets, and don't really gamble.  So tell me, should I spend the money on going to Vegas or should I travel to NYC and look at the sites, drink at the bars/clubs (thousands to choose from), world foods, beach, four seasons, Broadway shows, any sport you can think of including boxing, the list goes on.  You want romance, take your lady to Central Park and ride on a horse carriage.  I mean, I can be here forever.

There's a reason why millions of people say I love New York.  There's a reason why millions of people who have never been to New York City want to visit New York City.  Sorry Las Vegas, I love New York!  It's my "empire state of mind".

  1. I live in San Antonio and I have to agree with you, NYC would be my place of choice. I've been to both Vegas and NYC and I love New York. The nightlife, the scenes, plenty of things to do. What's funny is that my friend Tony has only been to Vegas and says that Vegas is better but how can he even compare if he has never been to NYC. New York City!

  2. Never been to new york but that's because vegas is way better

  3. Ummmm,Peter. How could you say that Vegas is better than New York if you've never been there? I've been to both New York and Las Vegas and I must say without a doubt that New York is way better.

  4. I'd have to agree with you Jose and Jennifer. I too have a friend that even though he has not been to New York City still believes that Las Vegas is better. I agree with the point that you cannot compare or say something is better if you have only experienced one. But like I commented in my initial post, to each is own. It all depends on who you ask. If you ask someone who lets say has a gambling problem he may say Las Vegas. If you ask someone who lets say loves the nightlife and loves to party, it can really go either way because both places offer a good nightlife and party scene. If you ask someone who lets say it's just the guys and you stick to a budget and wants to have a good time with the guys and maybe even his gal then Las Vegas may be the answer. My whole thing is that Las Vegas is at most a two night destination for me. I mean what more can you do? As for New York City, you can stay there a week and still feel like you needed to do more.

  7. Hey Lizzette, that's not fair... You put some negative things in the Vegas section like prostitutes and gambling. What about crime in New York or how everything is so expensive?

    ReplyDelete
  8. why is this even a question ny is the biggest city in america the most populated its the city that never sleeps its the best city in the world why are we even comparing?

  9. If you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere.

  10. Vegas isn't for brutes, it's for young and old, smart or dumb, skinny or fat, pretty and ugly, it's for everyone. Vegas is a great place to visit. One thing I do agree on is that when you go to NYC you do have to be there longer because there's much more to do.

  11. I know there's a lot more places to eat in New York.

  12. Hey Derek, you're right about the many places to eat in NYC. Let's not forget the favorites like New York hot dogs and New York pizza. No matter how hard other cities try nothing comes close. Craig, I see your point about Vegas not being just for brutes. I've been to Vegas plenty of times and I'm not a brute. I just get bored of it quickly and feel that New York City has more to offer to include mind stimulation. Abagail, simply put, New York, New York. Robert, I understand you questioning my question but there are people that feel Vegas is better. You and I don't see it but that's just the way it is. Lizzette, great comparison, that's probably how my list would look as well. Brandon and Papo, I'm sure Chicago and Miami are great places but at this time I'm only questioning NYC and Vegas. I've been to both Chicago and Miami but both visits were pretty brief. I do wish and intend on spending more time there. Jared, I'm glad you feel Vegas is better, I'm curious as to why you feel that way?

There's no right answer, this is a very opinionated question. I'm glad that all of you gave me your insights, thank you.

  13. @ Jeremy, I didn't put negative things for Vegas, those are actually some positive things for some people. Some people actually go to Vegas to get Prostitutes and most people go for the gambling. It's not negative that's just what you do in Vegas and what some and most people go for. There is crime in NY just like Vegas and NY is expensive just like Vegas but that's not why people go. Hope you know where I'm coming from.

  14. VEGAS IS WHERE ITS AT

  15. Whoever thinks Vegas is better than New York has obviously never been there.

  16. i've been to new york and had the worst time ever. the people r rude and the weather was awful and everything is expensive. i've never been to vegas but i will venture to say that vegas has to be better than new york.

  17. I live closer to Vegas so I go there a lot but I have been to NY. They're both great. NY is better.

  18. Lizzette, thanks for commenting back at Jeremy. I couldn't agree more with you. Jaqueline, I kind of feel the same way but, there has to be people out there that have been to both and feel otherwise. Crystal, I'm sorry you had a bad time in New York but really what you experienced could very well have happened anywhere. New York can be expensive but you have to know where to go to get good prices on certain things. I don't think New Yorkers are rude, they're just New Yorkers. But I guess if you grew up in a place where strangers say good morning to you in the middle of the street then I can see why one would say that New Yorkers are rude. I'd like you to visit Vegas and make a legit comparison. It's an opinion based question and though you have legitimate concerns about New York I feel that a genuine comparison can only come from a person who has experienced both locations. I hope you agree. Les, Thank you for being honest.

  23. New York City is better than Las Vegas for so many reasons. There are a lot more things to do in New York City the city outranks many other cities in just about everything that is good. I should also point out that a new survey just put New York City as the nations sixth safest city. That's very impressive yous guys. New York City has the best public schools in the nation making them the leader in the nation and other schools in the nation try to follow their steps. More people visit New York City and it's the most populous city for a reason. There's no comparison, New York City is the best city in the world.

  24. NEW YORK. THAT IS WHY ANYWHERE YOU GO THEY ARE TRYING TO BE LIKE NEW YORK. PEOPLE TRY TO IMMITATE NEW YORK PIZZA, NEW YORK HOT DOGS. TEAMS COMPARE THEMSELVES TO THE NEW YORK YANKEES. EVEN VEGAS HAS A NEW YORK NEW YORK CASINO.

  28. Anonymous (3), thank you for commenting. Sylvia, I completely agree with you that there are a lot more things to do in New York City. I also recently read an article that crime has gone way down and that other schools in the country take examples from the New York City Public School system. Thank you for commenting. Billy, I have had pizza in other places that say just like New York and it's no where near. Blue, There is no place like New York. Luis, I agree, there is a lot more to do in New York. Stephanie, I do enjoy both places I just find a lot more to do in New York than in Las Vegas. Thank you all for your comments.
